Equine Assisted Learning & Wellbeing sessions are launching at Shrewsbury Academy!

We are pleased to be able to launch Equine Assisted Learning and Wellbeing sessions for students at Shrewsbury Academy!

Counsellor, Michelle Welch currently runs a number of sessions for schools across The Marches Academy Trust which students have found really helpful. Equine Assisted Learning has many benefits for young people, some of the ways it can assist is through: helping to develop specific skills; helping to improve emotional interactions; development of leadership skills and helping to improve young people’s communication skills. Being around horses in the sessions also helps with:

  • Confidence and self control
  • Honesty and trust
  • Assertiveness/Boundary setting
  • Learning to improve communcation skills
  • Learning respect for self and others
  • Empathy to others
  • Non aggressive approach
  • Greater understanding of personal growth
  • Emotional exploration and healing
