New Year 7 student uniform for those starting with us in September 2021
We are currently on an exciting journey as we rebrand our school, information on uniform for our new Year 7 students will be shared by the end of July 2021.

Students currently in Year 7-11

Our school uniform plays a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of our school, and promotes a strong, cohesive school identity, supporting the high standards we aspire to. It gives our students a sense of identity.  Students in all year groups are required to wear a school uniform at all times. We hope that parents/carers will understand the reasons for our school uniform and support us.

We want our students to be smartly and sensibly dressed, and despite fashion trends we aim to have a uniform which is practical, comfortable and fit for purpose, but also reflects the ethos and values of the school. We also want our students to be proud of their uniform and their school. It is widely accepted that a uniform improves a child’s attitude to work and allows them to focus on learning, rather than their appearance.

A uniform also helps prepare our students for the world of work, ‘dressed for business’; the business being that of learning. Also, a uniform reduces socio-economic differences and instances of bullying based on appearance.

We want to provide you with as much information as possible to make the correct purchases. Our guidelines are here.

Adaptations may be made to the uniform for medical, disability or religious reasons. If parents/carers wish to discuss this, please contact the school.

Code of Dress

How students dress for school is an important part of how they behave and helps to set the right expectations and standards as a community. Any student failing or refusing to follow these guidelines will be sent home or isolated until they are able to do so.

With all aspects of uniform we do our upmost to provide images of acceptable and unacceptable uniform to allow correct choices to be made. If in doubt, please refer to the information above and ask for advice before making purchases. It is at the discretion of the school to make decisions regarding uniform that does not conform to the requirements set out in this guide. Please remember that choosing Shrewsbury Academy implies a willingness to conform to our school uniform guidelines at all times. This policy is also fully endorsed by the school’s board of governors. We realise that some students can be very persuasive over choices of coats, shoes and skirts and hope that this guidance, which has also been talked through with students, will help you in explaining school policy to your child and avoiding any problems.
