Year 7 student has an amazing opportunity to meet legends of football

We love to celebrate our students’ achievements both inside and outside of school. Recently Year 7 student Lily Harris shared with us the amazing experience she had when she went to visit St George’s Park with her football club due to their contribution to charity.

“On April 18th, I attended a trip to St George’s football ground (the home of England) as a reward for the fundraising my football team and I had done – raising over £21,000! We completed many activities to fundraise such as: 4 hour walks, 20k bike rides, obstacle courses, shaving heads, runs and much more. We were noticed by many big brands and companies, some being the Mayor, The FA, Nationwide, BBC and others. We also won another reward for our fundraising too! Our whole football team were noticed by England, so we had a trip to St George’s Park to train and look around. Little did we know we were getting trained by Sarina Wiegman and we had no idea we were going to meet Gareth Southgate as well! We waited around for a while until we were told we could go and get changed in the England changing rooms. Whilst we were waiting, Gareth Southgate walked down the stairs and walked right past but we managed to catch up to him and get a picture. We went back walking to the changing rooms and Sarina walked past us and I instantly started crying and everyone was so happy to see her! We then ended up having a 3-hour long training session with her and me and some of my teammates got interviewed. Now our news has been spread all across the county and in all of our matches from then on, we have had a Guard of Honour to show respect to our team.”

What an accomplishment for Lily and her team – amazing!
