Uniform

With all aspects of school uniform, we do our upmost to provide images of acceptable and unacceptable uniform, to allow correct choices to be made when purchasing. If in doubt please refer to this information prior to making purchases. It is the discretion of the school to make decisions regarding uniform that does not conform to the requirements of the school code of dress. If you have any questions or wish to discuss any element of the policy before you buy items, please do get in touch. Please remember that choosing Shrewsbury Academy implies a willingness to conform to school uniform guidelines at all times.

This policy is fully endorsed and approved by the school’s board of governors. The school views the wearing of correct uniform as a key element of the schools identity and standards as a community. Any fashion trend which may from time to time become popular should be reserved for leisure wear outside school and should not be worn to school.

Uniform Recycling

As your child’s school life comes to an end, we are hoping that there are some items of their uniform which have not. Please may we ask parents and carers of Year 11 students, who have items of school uniform and P.E. kit which are no longer needed or have been outgrown, to kindly donate these to the school for recycling. In particular the P.E. Kit, blue Year 11 jumpers and ties.

By donating items of school uniform you can contribute to the greater aim of recycling in the school and assist other parents/carers with the purchase of uniform.

Pre-Loved Uniform Scheme via Shrewsbury Academy

We are excited to have recently launched our Pre-Loved Uniform Scheme. We know that uniform can be an expensive requirement for our families. With this in mind, we want to help our school community by making good quality, preloved uniform easily available to everyone. Many items of uniform have a longer life beyond the point when our students have outgrown them and could be re-used by another student. As well as saving family’s money, re-using uniform also reduces our impact on the environment.

To support our scheme, we are asking families to donate any unwanted items of uniform that could be worn by another student. Donations can be handed in to the school office. If there are items that you are interested in, we ask that you respond directly to amanda.luckett@shr.mmat.co.uk with your required size to reserve items. Our school staff will then make contact directly with you, to arrange collection.

Recommended Pre-Loved Uniform Donations:

  • Grey School Jumper – £5
  • Old Style Blazer and Old-Style Black SA Sweater Year 11 – £3
  • School Skirts, Trousers and Shorts – £2
  • School Blouses and Shirts – £2
  • New PE Jumper – £5

All donations will be given directly to our School Food Bank S4T, which is available to all students and families. With the continued rise in household costs, we hope this initiative can make a small difference by helping some of our families to access uniform at a heavily reduced cost.
