The Local Authority Local Offer can be found here – there is a wealth of information regarding groups/activities/organisations and services that can support professionals and parents in Shropshire.

Our in-school facilities are designed to promote inclusion and remove barriers to learning that many students may face. These spaces are available during social times, before school, at break, and during lunch, to help ease anxieties often associated with a large school environment.
Our Learning Support provision offers a calm and nurturing environment for carefully planned interventions, designed to help students build confidence and develop the skills needed to thrive in mainstream lessons. Two dedicated spaces are available for small group and individual sessions within the Learning Support Department, focusing on areas such as literacy, numeracy, social skills, mentoring, and emotional literacy and wellbeing. These sessions are intended to complement, not replace, mainstream learning.
To ensure that support remains inclusive and purposeful, access to these spaces is arranged at specific times and is coordinated by the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), in collaboration with parents and key school staff. This ensures that each student’s needs are met in a way that supports their overall educational journey.
In addition, The Lighthouse provides a specialist, nurturing setting for children and young people embarking or already on the EHCNA pathway, including those experiencing emotional-based school avoidance (EBSA). It offers structured, personalised support within a clearly defined SEN criteria.
Students can also access The Bridge, a dedicated student support service offering planned and targeted wellbeing interventions and safeguarding support, tailored to individual needs—further strengthening our commitment to emotional and mental health support across the school.
The Shrewsbury Academy SEND Co-ordinator is Laura Richmond. She can be emailed at [email protected]  and [email protected] or call:         01743 276 700.
