Shrewsbury Students Make the Grade – and Then Some!

What a day at Shrewsbury Academy! With results in hand and big dreams ahead, students are celebrating a year of outstanding achievement.

In a town where the impact of national education funding shortages is deeply felt, our students have shown that with the right support and determination, incredible things are possible.

There’s a real energy around school today, with students securing places in sixth forms, colleges and apprenticeships. This year’s results reflect a school on a clear upward trajectory, where high expectations and a strong support network have enabled every student to make meaningful progress. From those achieving top academic grades to those securing vocational qualifications and apprenticeships, there is real breadth to what success looks like at Shrewsbury Academy. We are also incredibly excited about the future, following the opening of our brand-new Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) block. These state-of-the-art facilities are already inspiring students and expanding opportunities in subjects that are critical to the world they’re stepping into.

Mr. Taylor, Headteacher, said: “At Shrewsbury Academy, we are relentlessly ambitious, for our students, our staff, and our community. Today’s results are the outcome of that drive: a determination to push beyond expectations, regardless of the challenges we face. In a county where funding pressures are real, our students have shown resilience, focus, and pride in their achievements. Whether our young people are moving on to college, apprenticeships, or staying on with us at one of our Trust Sixth Forms, they leave with the skills and mindset to succeed. With the launch of Open6, a new Sixth Form initiative providing a hybrid approach to studying BTEC and A Levels this September, their opportunities are only expanding and our ambition for them remains as strong as ever.”

Why not come and see what our school has to offer, our open evening will take place on Thursday 25th September 2025.
